Who we are

A small team with a long relationship with the sea

Tongkang Bay was founded in Singapore to offer yacht charters that are genuinely well-run — not just well-marketed. The focus is on the experience once you're onboard.

Our story

Started from a different kind of frustration

Tongkang Bay came together in 2017, when a group of people who spent a lot of time on the water around Singapore grew tired of charter experiences that looked better in the brochure than they did in practice. Vessels that needed attention. Crews who treated guests as an afterthought. Catering that appeared to have been an afterthought.

The idea was straightforward: put together a small fleet of vessels that were properly maintained, hire crew who actually cared about the quality of each trip, and design three charters that suited different kinds of guests — rather than offering the same voyage at three different price points.

The name nods to the traditional wooden vessels that once moved cargo and people through these same waters. The spirit is similar — unhurried, purposeful, and shaped by the sea rather than imposed upon it.

Founded 2017

Established in Singapore with a focused offering and a deliberate approach to how each charter is run.

Over 850 charters completed

Across morning cruises, full-day island passages, and overnight coastal voyages since operations began.

MPA-accredited operations

All captains hold certifications recognised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

Our mission

Simple to say. A bit harder to consistently do.

To offer charter experiences in Singapore's southern waters that are genuinely well-run — where the vessel is in good order, the crew is attentive, the food is worth eating, and the time feels like time well spent.

How we operate

Standards that run through everything

These aren't framed on a wall. They're part of how each voyage is prepared and run.

MPA-compliant safety

All safety equipment is checked and certified before each departure. Life jackets, fire suppression, and emergency signalling are maintained to MPA standards.

Scheduled vessel maintenance

Each yacht follows a structured maintenance programme. Engine, hull, and onboard systems are inspected on a regular basis — not only when something requires attention.

Certified crew

All captains hold current MPA-recognised certification. Crew members are selected for both competence and the manner in which they engage with guests.

Marine insurance

All charters operate under current marine insurance cover. Guests board knowing the vessel and its operations meet the required policy conditions.

Data privacy

Guest information is collected only for the purpose of managing bookings. Data is held in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act.

Weather monitoring

Sea and weather conditions are tracked in the days leading up to each departure. If conditions are unsuitable, guests are contacted as early as possible to discuss options.

Yacht charters in Singapore's southern waters

Singapore's position at the edge of the Malacca Strait gives it access to some of the most varied and interesting maritime scenery in the region. The southern coast — stretching from Sentosa Cove past Keppel Bay and out toward the smaller outlying islands — offers calm anchorages, working port views, and stretches of open water within a short distance of the city centre.

Tongkang Bay operates three charter formats that make use of this geography in different ways. The Morning Calm Cruise is suited to those who want a few hours on the water without committing to a full day. The Full-Day Island Passage is designed for groups who want more time, two island stops, and the use of water sports equipment. The Weekend Coastal Voyage is for those who want to step entirely away from the city for a night and a morning.

All three charters depart from marinas in the Keppel Bay and Sentosa Cove area, placing guests at the water's edge from the moment they arrive. The crew handles logistics, navigation, and catering — leaving guests free to settle into wherever the voyage takes them.
